To make everyone comfortable I have wrote a faqs on how to set it up in Trilian and Pidgin, but there's more way to access the chat: WebIRC (a link is provided in the post), plug-in on Firefox, Opera (it's build-in), good old IRC client, Mibbit (I'm sure you can even sign up for an account and make everything automatic) ... etc.
To make everyone comfortable I'll even write a faqs for the other IRC clients of your choice if you need help setting it up (Unless it's on stuff I have no access to, like iPod Touch or Android phone)
Here's the webchat
http://webchat.irchighway.net/?channels=trap-utopiaAnd here's the faqs on how to set it up in Pidgin. Trilian and Miranda
Pidgin:Account menu > Manage accounts > Add...
The basic tab (don't need the rest) > Login options
Protocol: IRC
Username: Your username
Server: irc.irchighway.net
Password: Your wanted password (You need to register, I'll tell how later in this post)
First now join the #trap-utopia channel
Click on the Buddies menu > Join a Chat > Account (Your IRC account)
Channel: #trap-utopia
The chat should be open. Now, to make it so it auto-joinable:
In the chat, menu Conversation > Add... > just check "Autojoin when account connect" and click on Add
For Trilian:Menu Trilian > Manage Accounts > Add a new account... > IRC
Account name: How do you want to call this entry in Trilian
Nickname: Your nick
Server Host: irc.irchighway.net
Check "Automatically conenct to this account on startup"
Now that it'S done, in the same window click on the account and go to settings:
Go in the Miscellaneous menu
There should be "Commands (one per line) and a white space to write something, this excute each time you connect to this account in trilian
Write those:
/msg NickServ IDENTIFY password
(Of course, instead of "password", you write YOUR password. I'll explain how to register later in this post.
This authentify you automatically)
/join #trap-utopia
(This will make you join trap-utopia)
I also highly recommenddoing this:
(Same connection setting menu)
Chat > uncheck always show console window on connection creation
This will automatically hide the console window.
How to register your nick:
Write in a chat window:
/msg NickServ REGISTER password [email]
(Registers your nickname in the NickServ database. Once
your nick is registered, you can use the SET and ACCESS
commands to configure your nick's settings as you like
them. Make sure you remember the password you use when
registering - you'll need it to make changes to your nick
later. (Note that case matters! EPONA, Epona, and
epona are all different passwords!)
And to identify of course
Write in chat window
/msg NickServ IDENTIFY password
(Tells NickServ that you are really the owner of this
nick. Many commands require you to authenticate yourself
with this command before you use them. The password
should be the same one you sent with the REGISTER
command.)
(These works with the webchat of course)
Miranda: (by Fewmets)First add IRC:
Click Miranda Icon > Accounts > + and set up a new IRC account on Miranda
Account Name: <name for IRC account in Miranda>
Protocol: "IRC"
Internal Account Name: leave this blank
Now to select the server:
Click on the newly added account and set the server settings
Server: "IRCHighway: Random server"
Password: Leave this blank
Nick: your username
Alternate Nick: your username if your normal username is taken
Full name: set as your username.
User ID: set as your username.
Now click okay in the account box
and log into your account by clicking Status > <Account name> > Online
Wait 1 minute for their badly implimented ident system to fail and the icon to show that you are indeed logged in
Finally log into the #trap-utopia channel:
click on Miranda Icon > IRC Account name > Join channel
Type in #Trap-Utopia and click ok
Congrats you're here!
A few changes you might want to make.
click Miranda Icon > Options > Network > <your account name> and going to the advanced tab.
There under preform check the enabled box and change the event to IRCHighway in the box add the following:
/msg NickServ IDENTIFY <password>
/join #trap-utopia
This will identify you to the nickserver (replace <password> with your password) and autojoin the trap-utopia channel on every login
Finally click the + and you're set to go.
If you have proper ports open you MIGHT be able to get rid of the 1 minute log in wait by checking the box that says enable under Ident in the account tab. IRC highway has a very badly implimented Ident system and this may or may not actually help.
When you're done click okay and you're set for your future visits to Trap-Utopia IRC
